In the next few months we are going to publish a series of articles designed to describe and explain what we do in Christian Worship. It is not meant for scholars or specialist students - there are many textbooks and resources addressed to them. These short offerings will look at the building blocks and occasions that make up Christian worship. Each section will tackle one particular theme or act of worship. Together, the series, spread over several months, will offer a general approach to understanding Christian worship as a whole. However, it is important to remember that worship is an activity that demands our participation before we can even begin to understand it. Jesus says that we have to worship in Spirit and in truth (John 4.24). Whatever else we say, this comes first.
